Associative and cultural structure
A center for education, interpretation and community, devoted to the port and industrial sector.
Port Center was set up to promote knowledge of Le Havre’s maritime, industrial and port activity, of its stakeholders and the various professions found in the city, working with schoolchildren and students, as well as members of the public who would like to learn more about the challenges faced by the port economy and how France’s leading container port operates.
Le Havre’s Port Center has three goals:
- Contributing to a vibrant port community, creating a forum for developing knowledge, promoting and sharing information about the port’s activities and professions;
- Asserting Le Havre’s sea-faring identity to boost the region’s appeal;
- Opening the port up to the local community by communicating about what it is, what it does and what its development projects are.
Le Havre’s Port Center was formed as a general interest association on 9 December 2015 bringing together five founding members: the City of Le Havre, the Le Havre urban community (Communauté de l’Agglomération Havraise), the Grand Port Maritime du Havre, the Le Havre chamber of commerce and industry and the Union Maritime et Portuaire.
